How to Audition

Call (972) 422-2575 for an audition time. There is no cost to audition. If you accept your role in the production, there is a tuition and ticket requirement.

If you’ve had at least one acting class at Plano Children’s Theatre or elsewhere:

  • Prepare a song that you really like to sing. Bring your CD to accompany you. For your first several auditions, it’s okay to sing over the lyrics.
  • For some auditions, cold readings will be available.
  • Find a monologue on line, from a bookstore, or from your school library. Know it very well.
  • Check out the Rising Star Productions. Many younger students will be cast in bigger parts in these productions.
  • You are going to be nervous. Just remember, that we want only the best for you – so shine!

Founded in 1991 by Sara Akers, Plano Children’s Theatre exists to help children ages 5 to 18 find out who they are. For more than 19 years, the theatre has been a place where kids could be the star and a place where they could gain an appreciation and love for live theatre. In 2005, McKinney Youth Theatre was founded with the same philosophy.

Plano Children’s Theatre is dedicated to developing the character of youth through quality arts education and family entertainment.

Where participation and enjoyment of the arts experience is available and desired by all.
